ONSLOW COUNTY
The Jacksonville Urban – Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (JUMPO) lies completely within Onslow County, North Carolina. Onslow County covers 767 square miles in the southeastern coastal plain of North Carolina, approximately 120 miles east of Raleigh, and 50 miles north of Wilmington. The City of Jacksonville is the county seat, as well, as the Lead Planning Agency for JUMPO. Within Onslow County, JUMPO serves Jacksonville, Richlands, Holly Ridge, Swansboro, and North Topsail Beach.
Jacksonville
Jacksonville has grown rapidly since 1941, when Camp Lejeune was established. The same qualities that drew the Marine Corps to build the world’s most complete amphibious base in Onslow County were also some of the same qualities that caused the City to be formed along the New River.
Richlands
Richlands is a vibrant, family-friendly community with small-town charm and a historic central business area. Richlands is rich in history and relevant today. Holly ridge
Holly Ridge is a town in Onslow County, North Carolina, United States. The 2010 population was 1,268. It is part of the Jacksonville, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is considered the gateway to Topsail Island.
swansboro
Founded in 1783, the “Friendly City by the Sea” offers a historic downtown district overlooking the water, numerous opportunities for coastal recreation, and a progressive town government that works to balance high quality community growth with conservation of the community’s natural and historic resources.
North Topsail beach
The Town is located in the Stump Sound Township of Onslow County, North Carolina. Incorporated in 1990, the Town derived its name from its location, the north end of Topsail Island. The area was formerly known as West Onslow Beach and North Topsail Shores. Town population is 843 (2000 census).
